McKenzie County Public Works Building

Watford City, ND

Due to old and outdated facilities and explosive growth due to the oil industry, McKenzie County desired a new public works building. The existing facilities lacked space and equipment, such as snowplows and road graders, were stored outdoors. ICON designed a new facility that was built on a 32-acre site that allows the County to keep all equipment indoors while also housing everything on one site, instead of multiple. The building features a wash bay, a welding bay, a vehicle maintenance bay, and the site also includes two 11,500 s.f. cold storage buildings, a 6,000 s.f. salt and sand storage building, and a 29,000 s.f. outdoor storage laydown yard.
