McKenzie County Courthouse Addition and Renovation

Watford City, ND

Due to the impact of the oil industry boom, McKenzie County needed an updated courthouse to accommodate the expanding service needs of the County. In Spring of 2013, a unanimous vote passed to approve the project. The project included a renovation of the existing county courthouse which includes improved operational space efficiencies, security upgrades, and improved public access circulation. The project also included an addition, which includes the addition of a Public Works Department and State’s Attorney and Judge office spaces. The renovation of the courthouse includes a more open design with new flooring and renovated offices and restrooms. The entrance and new façade were designed to be stately, visually open and inviting, and to maintain an appropriate scale with the existing building.
